Volunteers can either apply for ongoing positions within specific areas of work or simply register their interest in volunteering to receive updates on the opportunities available and commit to any hours that they are able to.
With the exception of the one-off volunteer opportunities through our database students are expected to commit to a minimum of 30 hours volunteering for their chosen area.
Volunteers are eligible to receive Northumbria University Global Citizenship awards based on the following hours:

| Gold | up to 200 hours |
| Platinum | up to 300 hours |
