  • To prioritise individual technical and tactical development
  • Deliver the highest level of off field support, particularly in Strength and Conditioning.
  • Produce players that graduate into part or full time contracts or go onto play at the highest level that they can achieve
  • Remain focused on holistic welfare of 'Student-Athletes'.

Pre-season 2012/13

All players (male and female), especially new applicants for September 2012, wishing to be considered for Pre-season training should contact simon.culley@northumbria.ac.uk at the earliest opportunity.

Your email should include a brief playing CV, if you will be new to the programme please include the details of at least 1 reference (club/school/representative coach). Invitations will go out a month in advance of training starting.  It is assumed that players returning for Pre-season will have a high degree of fitness. Performance Sport

Athletes selected onto our Performance Sport Programme benefit from a range of specialist support designed to help talented athletes realise their potential. Each athlete receives a package of support up to a value of £8,000, which is based on their individual needs.

We welcome applications for all sports including Rugby Union, and both home and international students, however we prioritise applications from athletes from sports in which we work in partnership with the National Governing Bodies to deliver their Excel or Performance programmes.

Therefore please be aware that we prioritise applications from athletes within Golf, Netball, Volleyball, Fencing, and Judo.
