Coach Education

This course is open to everyone- students, staff and members of the public.
The course is a comibination of written examination and coninuous assessment by an England Fencing Coach Educator.

The Level 1 Coach Award is considered a high enough qualification to allow you to assist a more qualified coach in the salle and to deliver pre-prepared and planned lessons.

  • You must be 18 years old or above to take the course.

Start Fencing

What:
A six week course of 1 hour sessions designed for complete beginners who fancy trying a new activity or for those who have fenced a little before and want to improve their skills and have some fun at the same time.

Additional Information:
Wear comfortable clothing- Trainers and Tracksuit bottoms. Please bring a spare T- shirt.

Who:
Students & Staff

Criteria:
No previous experience needed, beginners are welcome.

Members* - £10
Non members - £15

Booking Information:
You can book your course using our Online Booking System, visiting Sport Central or Coach Lane Reception or telephoning either facility 0191 227 4700 (Sport Central) and 0191 215 6575.

If you choose to use our Online Booking System you will need to do the following:

  1. Enter your Login ID (students and staff- this is your computer username). If you are not a student or staff member of Northumbria University you will need to sign up.
  2. At the top right hand corner click on change and select courses and coaching
  3. Click on ‘Make a Booking’ and then select Start Courses
  4. Then choose the Start Fencing course that you would like to book.
