Team Northumbria’s Futsal heroes will represent the north at next month’s FA Cup finals after shooting down their regional rivals in Sheffield.
But the in-form club will have to compete against the best that the short game has to offer without their Spanish stars.
TN will tackle the cream of the country’s Futsal clubs in Birmingham on July 9.
But Juan Diago and Albert Melina will be back home by the time the action kicks off in the West Midlands.
“We’d like to thank both of them as they head back to sunny Spain for the summer,” said skipper Sam Gallego.
“They have played a key part in our progress this season and will be sorely missed in Birmingham.”
TN had cruised through North East qualifying to make the northern regional finals in the Steel City.
But progress to the nationals was far from easy as two tense group games threatened to derail a classic campaign.
TN could only manage a brace of 2-2 draws against East Coast Futsal and Tranmere Victoria.
And Gallego’s side squeezed through to the playoff final on the back of goals scored.
Old foes Middlesbrough stood between TN and a place in Birmingham’s showpiece finals.
And the Sport Central club faced an uphill struggle from the start after Boro took an early lead.
But Gallego and Lee Mcluckie hot back to fire TN in front.
And it looked like Birmingham beckoned before Alex McPheat’s sending off piled on the pressure.
A depleted TN dug deep to protect their lead and finally overcame the Teessiders to take their place in the nationals.
“Once again we showed great fighting spirit and we travel to the Midlands next month full of confidence,” said Gallego.
