Zambia was amazing! Such a great experience and loved every minute of it! I will definitely be trying to go back within the near future because it had such an impact on me as I knew it would. So many amazing people out there and I thoroughly enjoyed the role of the pied piper haha!

My time in Zambia has been the most incredible weeks of my life. Chipata has become part of me and saying goodbye to the people there was extremely difficult. My last visit to Fountain also was really upsetting, their strength is inspiring and it made me realise that they as a culture are much stronger than our own. I am already thinking about returning to Zambia next summer to visit the place which has earned a place in my heart. I will never forget the time I have spent here and the people I have met. Everyone has become my family. I hope that I will be able to come back here soon. T.I.A…Umatima Forever.

On reflection of my time in Zambia it is hard to put into words the journey I have completed. My last week spent in Kalingalinga was the best of all, it truly feels like home now and my peer leaders feel like family. I have learnt so much from the community and hope I have left my mark. I have grown incredibly as a person and I know I am not returning to the UK the same person that I left. I have fallen in love with Zambia, the culture, the people; and feel privileged to have had the chance to be part of this amazing project. My eyes have been opened to the world and the impact that will have on my life is huge.

I will never forget the boys I have met on the team at Fountain of Hope, I can’t even start to put into words the life lessons they have taught me. They exercise such great strength and humility at such young ages, something which I strive for. I can honestly say that the Zambia Ideals project is the best experience of my life so far. I have met some truly inspirational people and have made lifelong friends. I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity and I will be forever thankful to the project for aiding in my development.

Reflecting back over the past 5 weeks I can’t begin to repeat the many amazing experience’s that I have had. The Wallace Tournament was the icing on the cake, allowing all IDEALS students, peer leaders and children to interact and share their knowledge through the tournament. The day was amazing with many enthusiastic and lively faces smiling everywhere. I would not change anything about this amazing experience that is Africa.
